Doug Pessefall is an attorney in the Milwaukee office of Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C. where he practices business and tax law, with an emphasis on contested tax matters. Doug advises businesses and nonprofits on formation, operational issues, transitions, general corporate governance and tax considerations. Doug also practices in the areas of federal, state and local tax audits and contested matters, sales and use taxes, and property tax assessments and exemptions. Doug represents businesses, nonprofits and individuals before the Internal Revenue Service, Wisconsin Department of Revenue, state and federal courts and administrative agencies, and various local boards of review and officials.
Prior to joining the legal profession, Doug led downtown and economic development efforts in the nonprofit and public sectors in Ohio and New York. Doug also worked with the Office of General Counsel for the Internal Revenue Service’s Tax-Exempt/Government Entities Division in Chicago and the Milwaukee County Circuit Court. Doug received his J.D. from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago and his B.A. from the University of Dayton.
Doug currently serves as treasurer and a member of the board of directors of the Milwaukee Kickers Soccer Club. Doug is an Ohio native who moved to the Milwaukee area 9 years ago and now lives in Wauwatosa with his wife, Elizabeth, and three children.
